About me

Hi, I'm Maria-Laura.

As a journalist and anthropologist, I focus on interculturality, glocalism, environmentalism, and conflict. Through audiovisual storytelling, I strive to create compelling narratives that make complex entangled global issues more graspable.

Sharing knowledge is a passion of mine. Therefore I teach classes on themes such as interculturality, creative writing x storytelling, communication, ethnographic work and discrimination.

To clear my head, or put news into perspective I write creatively.

My journey began in 2019 graduating with a degree in social work. While my college friends started working, I longed for a more profound understanding of our cultures, systems and the world around it. Pursuing anthropology allowed me to engage on a deeper level with these subjects, immersing myself in complexities of our multispecies societies.

As I encounterd fascinating people in differential fields, I realised the importance of sharing their stories. Creating comprehensible knowledge for ourselves, our neighbours and communities worldwide. Through my studies in international investigative journalism, I enhanced my researchskills and learned how to amplify the voices of those who might otherwise go unheard.

This passion led me to push further,  and start telling stories with a focus on audiovisual storytelling. A medium in which narratives are  told through multiple senses leading to a more allround comprehensible understanding. This way I strive to create a platform for people to share their stories across the world.

When I am free I love to hike and camp by tent. During multi-day journeys, I've encountered fascination people from different places. While listening to their narratives, I realised the importance of stories of individual people: a neigbour, a farmer working on his land or a grandfather. These narratives spark my imagination and form me into an alltime curious individual.
